Anbernic RG DS Plus

Anbernic RG DS Plus retro handheld

About this device

Anbernic's second dual-screen handheld. Two 4.3 inch 1024x768 screens that scale Nintendo DS output at a clean 4x, a built-in stylus, a 15 to 180 degree hinge, and Linux with Anbernic's own NNDSS emulator. Chipset and price unannounced.

The Anbernic RG DS Plus is the follow up to the RG DS, revealed by trailer in early September 2026. The headline change is resolution. Its two 4.3 inch panels run at 1024x768, which is exactly four times the Nintendo DS resolution of 256x192 in each axis, so DS output scales as clean 4x4 pixel blocks with no interpolation. The original RG DS ran 640x480, a 2.5x factor that cannot divide evenly, which is why its DS image looked soft. Anbernic also moved off Android to Linux and wrote its own dual screen emulator, NNDSS, with screen swapping, bottom screen touch, 76 shaders, save states, microphone support and cheat codes. The capacitive stylus now stores inside the shell rather than shipping loose, and a redesigned hinge opens from 15 to 180 degrees. Anbernic has not announced the chipset, RAM, battery, price or release date, so what the device can emulate beyond DS is still unknown.
