ModRetro M64

About this device
The ModRetro M64 is a $229.99 FPGA Nintendo 64 console on an AMD Artix UltraScale+ chip. It plays original cartridges region free at up to 4K over HDMI, with open source firmware and wireless updates.
The ModRetro M64 is an FPGA Nintendo 64 console, the follow-up to the Chromatic. It plays original N64 cartridges region free across NTSC and PAL, running them on a 16nm AMD Artix UltraScale+ FPGA rather than a software emulator, and outputs up to 4K at 60fps over HDMI. Expansion Pak and Controller Pak functionality are built in, so a full library works without hunting down thirty year old accessories. The firmware is open source and updates arrive wirelessly, with 1.24.3 and 0.12.0 both shipping within two weeks of launch. The catch is the box: there is no controller and no HDMI cable, and the M64 Pro Controller is $89.99, so a first order from nothing lands closer to $320. Original N64 pads and most modern replicas work across its four ports.
