Performance and Emulation

This is the heart of the decision. The ROG Xbox Ally X uses the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme, a chip with a long track record in emulation. AMD graphics drivers are the most battle-tested for RPCS3, Switch emulators, and Cemu, so PS3, Switch, and Wii U emulation is proven rather than promised.

The Claw 8 EX AI+ uses Intel's Arc G3 Extreme, a newer and, on paper, faster chip class. In native PC games that raw lead is real, and the Claw can hold higher framerates at its 1200p resolution than the Ally X manages at 1080p.

The catch is drivers, and it is the reason a retro buyer should pause.
